Last weekend the top wrestlers in the state gathered at CHI for the Nebraska 2023 State Wrestling championships. Elkhorn North had seven wrestlers qualify, but just one wrestler placed. Jadon Webster got third for the 220 weight class for Class B.
Webster is a senior at Elkhorn North and has been in the wrestling program for all three years. He has had an incredibly successful season this past year with his three individual tournament championships, placing in the top three at every single meet he participated in, and his second consecutive EMC championship.
Webster continued his run of victory into the State tournament. He was one of 16 qualifiers for his weight class and he had 4 straight pins to come back for a top three finish. This demonstrated an improvement as this was Webster’s first state appearance.
He served as a leader in stats while simultaneously winning the record for the most all time career pins: 71 pins in three years. The head coach of the Wolves, Brett LaBudda, has enjoyed watching Webster develop as a teammate and wrestler.
“It is rare to have a student athlete like Jadon Webster. He makes coaching easy, he holds himself to a high standard and wants the same for each wrestler in the program,” said LaBudda, “His hard work and dedication to himself and his team is what led him to have such a successful high school wrestling career. He has helped establish a great culture of student athletes on the wrestling team here at Elkhorn North.
