Being the youngest in high school can be intimidating for any freshman pup, but Sidney Johnson has not let this stop her from pursuing activities she wants to be involved in.
While adjusting to a more rigorous high school class schedule, Johnson is still able to manage a variety of activities including musical, FCCLA, DECA, student council, and varsity show choir.
“I am really enjoying high school,” Johnson said. “Adjusting has been different in the work levels, but over time I think that it will get easier.”
One of the most time consuming activities in Johnson’s schedule is choir. Making the jump from middle school to high school choir is an important part of her musical career, but it comes with more responsibility.
“In high school there is a lot more time and effort that goes into choir,” Johnson said. “You have to stay into it and you have to stay committed.”
While being new to high school and managing an occupied schedule, Johnson is still able to provide a lively personality in the choir department.
“Sidney is super professional and super prepared,” choir teacher Casey Allen said. “Her energy helps everyone’s energy and the choir department loves having her around.”
Outside of the choir department, Johnson was recently added to the student council.
“The freshmen just joined a week ago, but the environment was super welcoming,” Johnson said. “I love being around organized people and I am excited to see how I can get more involved.”
Not being afraid to join a variety of activities and pursuing what Johnson is passionate about is super important for her.
“The fact that I am helping others motivates me the most,” Johnson said. “I enjoy knowing that other people are being impacted by my positive actions.”
