Senior Caden Wieseman has an endless passion for fine art. His creativity flows whether he is painting a collage or throwing on the wheel.
Allowing his creative side to come out during art class has given Wieseman an outlet to destress from the pressures of school and personal life.
“It’s a way for me to forget about life, it’s just like, [I] vibe with myself and do whatever I want and have peace,” Wieseman said.
The freedom and possibilities of art is a major component to his love for it. In different classes such as english or math there is a right way and a wrong way, like when it comes to an essay in english or when solving a math problem. While in art there is no direction you need to follow when creating something.
“It’s just a way to get creative,” Wieseman said, “art’s just open ended anything can be right or wrong so that’s what I like about it, nothings ever wrong.”
Wieseman started making art when he was in first grade just for fun at school but over the years he continued to improve and grow fonder of it. Senior Elena Koske has witnessed Wieseman’s improvements in art through the years.
“I would describe Caden as just experimental, like he always has an idea and he always knows exactly how he wants to execute it and he always just, he’s interesting,” Koske said, “he wants to do what people haven’t done before and I think that’s just really refreshing.”
Most people know Wieseman for his participation in track, the Pack exec team, and being the volleyball manager, but not many know of his interest and talent in art. Through art, Wieseman has opened his social circle and met so many people that he would not have connected with otherwise.
“He has a very open mind and honestly everything he does, even non art related, is so creative and I think that personality translates so well into being artistic,” Koske said.
Wieseman wants to continue art in his future and at least minor in it in college. He’d like use it as a side job, such as painting murals on buildings or for schools.
“I think selling my work on the side as a freelance artist by painting murals on buildings or something would be fun and a way to get extra money for my art,” Wieseman said.
Selling art can be a challenging way to earn money, but Wieseman has the confidence to do so. Someone who is very confident and comfortable with their work can inspire others, such as students in art or looking to join art classes.
“I feel I’m very positive around art, [I] bounce off people’s ideas or if they don’t have a full idea I help solidify them, so they can turn it into a piece,” Weiseman said.
His generous and creative contribution to fellow artist’s projects is recognized and appreciated by both students and teachers.
“I would say that Caden is definitely a leader in the art classroom. He is constantly coming up with new projects and offers suggestions and feedback to his fellow classmates,” Art teacher Nicole Lucks said, “He is an extremely hard worker and is always working on his projects both during class and during his study halls.”.
Having a positive influence and a good example of work ethic is encouraging to both his classmates and teachers.
“His drive inspires his fellow classmates to continue to push their work and dedicate more time to their work as well. Caden is also a lot of fun to work with, always receptive to feedback or to try something new, which is so important in art,” Lucks said.
