In Jenkins’s free time he enjoys cooking and baking with his mom and trying new recipes.
¨My favorite food to bake is my homemade cinnamon rolls,” Jenkins said. “I used a recipe at first but then I perfected them with my own ingredients.”
Jenkins’s mom has impacted his love for cooking as she was the one to teach him many recipes and show him the ways around a kitchen. Her help inspired him by teaching him how to cook and this caused Jenkins to soon realize he wants to cook for other people in the future and make a career out of it.
¨Lately I have been looking at Metropolitan Community College and thinking about doing their culinary cooking program so I can advance my cooking skills and eventually be some type of chef,¨ Jenkins said.
Since Jenkins’s father worked in the military, he wishes to be a part of that environment as a chef.
¨I have always wanted to cook in the military because my dad worked in the military and I wanted to do something in the military just like him,¨ Jenkins said.
Jenkins enjoys seeing his friends and mom blessed by the meals he has prepared for them. One way he will be able to show off his talents is through joining a foods class at Elkhorn North.
¨I would like to be in the food class because I want to make the recipes and have a class where I can cook even when I’m in school,¨ Jenkins said.
Many nights he takes time to make food and help his mom cook dinner for the family in preparation for his future career.
¨I love cooking with my mom so I can spend time with her and make more memories together because cooking is a major part of my life.¨ Jenkins said.
