The Wolves freshmen football team (2-3-1) took on Skutt’s undefeated freshmen on Thursday, Oct. 12 led by head coach Colton Schneider.

The wolves were down 0-14 at the end of the first quarter. During the second quarter, the wolves scored two touchdowns, but failed the kick for an extra point.

“I knew that it was a close game and that it was a good team. We needed to play really good offense and really good d[efense],” Full back and tight end Jack Reinoehl said.

With a stalemate during the third quarter, neither team gained any points. Toward the end of the fourth, the wolves got a touchdown and succeeded in a two-point conversion.

With less than one minute left, Skutt scored a touchdown to bring the score to 21-20 Elkhorn North. With Skutt about to attempt the extra point, ENHS jumped offsides which brought the Skyhawk offense in, leading them to attempt a two-point conversion.

Their attempt was halted, and with 30 seconds left, they attempted an onside kick and failed. The game ended 21-20 Wolves and Skutt’s freshman team’s undefeated streak ended.

“It was a great comeback,” middle line backer Vinny DePrima said. “Energy was really low at 14-0, then we scored and we ran away with the game.”
