The Sound of the Wolfpack placed 12th out of 21 bands at their state competition on Saturday. They finished out the season with an overall score of 79.40/100, with color guard placing 10th and percussion placing 5th.

“I think that was probably our best performance of the season,” drum major junior Mason Miller said. “I got goosebumps when we hit the big moments, and I felt like everything that we worked on went pretty well.”

The band has been working since early August on their show, and they have had practices every morning from 7-9 a.m. in addition to 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesday nights in preparation for the many competitions and football games leading up to state.

“I was really proud of how we performed,” band director Matt Rom said. “I think that we made a really big step this year in learning when and where it’s time to focus our energy, and how we are able to focus our energy. I felt like we were really able to be tuned in this year than in previous years, and we were better focused on details.”
