The yearbook encapsulates the events, sports, and activities of each school year. The Yearbook staff takes pictures, designs spreads, and organizes the photographed and written memories of the student body. As editor, senior Selah Halweg oversees all yearbook processes and works to make sure all students are represented in the 2023-24 edition of the Imprint.
This is Halweg’s third year on yearbook and he second year in an editing role. Last year she served as managing editor; this year her role requires more leadership as she is lead editor.
“She always has lots of ideas and is the first one to volunteer for anything,” senior Quinn Carney said. “Although editor is a very daunting task, she is always there to help out.”
As editor, Halweg is in charge of making sure the theme is shown consistently throughout the pages of the book. She oversees each spread, or page of photos and quotes, and helps fellow staff members with design and organization.
“She has an extremely dedicated work ethic and she wants the yearbook to be wonderful and she’s so creative with every layout she touches,” yearbook adviser Kelly Honz said. “Even the captions she writes are detailed and lovely. She’s just so talented on top of being meticulous and organized.”
The staff consists of 15 reporters which Halweg helps oversee. Honz has been impressed by Halwegs’ growth and leadership since she first joined her sophomore year.
“I had her as a freshman in English class and convinced her to join and she had never done yearbook before,” Honz said. “Her first year with no experience, she dove in and figured things out right away. She was immediately a leader.”
For the recent yearbook deadline, Halweg helped her group design and complete three different spreads. Halweg is also in charge of helping choose and design the yearbook cover.
“She’s a very kind and caring person,” senior Tessa Brickell said. “She’s always there to help out.”
