The girls’ basketball team season has come to an end, and with it another state championship. Establishing themselves as a dynasty with 4 state titles in 4 years, the Lady Wolves have further shown their dominance over Class B.
The team seems to draw themselves toward success and through countless hours of hard work, they have managed to have a cumulative record of 97-5. Regardless of their pure dominance, they are always on the lookout for ways to give themselves an edge over their opponents.
“One major improvement I saw was the commitment to knowing the scout [the gameplan]. The girls bought into watching the film, knowing the scouting report, and following the game plan,” Assistant Coach Laura Dischler said. “It’s a side of the game that sometimes is overlooked especially at the high school level.”
Going to Lincoln every March and bringing home a state title is not a simple accomplishment, and they were able to do it four times consecutively. Not only did this require the team to improve on the court, but off of the court they’ve had to mesh together.
“I have a lot of good memories here, obviously state has been fun, but just being in practice every day, having fun with my teammates, team dinners, stuff like that is what I will really miss,” Britt Prince said.
With 5 seniors leaving the team this year for college, there will be a lot of holes to fill in the lineup. Although it may be a process, they are ready to face the challenge and continue the trend of success.
“It’s going to be an experience, it’s going to take some time, but I think it’ll be okay,” Junior Kara Kudlacz said. “I think that if everybody just learns how to cooperate with each other, which we already do, I think it will be just fine.”
The girls’ basketball team ended their 4th season in a row with a state championship. Their success has been evident, and they plan to continue on their path next year.
“It’s unbelievable, it is literally like a dream come true to be able to win four straight titles. It is extremely difficult to do, especially when everyone is gunning for you,” Head Coach Ann Prince said. “We carried a target on our back for 4 seasons and were able to handle it with a lot of class, I am so unbelievably proud of our kids for the way they handled themselves.”
