The Enneagram 3 is known as “the achiever” because of their constant desire to impress others and their natural sense of competition.
The Achiever is hard working, driven, and wants to be admired by those around them. They strongly believe in themself and take the time to invest in being the best they can possibly be. The Three wants to be successful in everything they do, no matter how big or small.
“My biggest motivation is pushing myself to the limit,” sophomore Eden Connelly said.
Threes are usually well-liked among their peers and encourage others to work toward new goals.
“I am a very ‘go go go’ person,” Connelly said. “If I am not doing something, I get stressed or worried.”
Constantly on the move, Threes are at their best when they are busy or have something to work towards. They are charming, admirable and truly feel like they know themself. Threes are “go-getters” and know how to better themselves and others.
The Enneagram Institute says that “healthy Threes embody the best in a culture, and others are able to see their hopes and dreams mirrored in them.”
“I am always pushing myself to be a better teacher,” math teacher Erin Kasner said.
Threes often fear being a “nobody” and not leaving any mark or impact on those around t
hem. They put their energy into things they know they are good at or what they know they will receive praise or recognition from. Oftentimes, they do what others want them to do, not what they want to do. This can cause them to have “tunnel vision” and lead them to not think about the consequences of their actions.
The Enneagram Institute says, “Threes can become so alienated from themselves that they no longer know what they truly want, or what their real feelings or interests are.”
This causes them to lose sight of themselves and who they truly are inside. While it is a good thing to be driven and hardworking, constantly pushing oneself will lead to burnout.
Famous Threes are: Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Michael Jordan, O.J. Simpson, Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong, Elvis Presley, Reese Witherspoon, and Anne Hathaway.
