Britt Prince wins Back to Back Nebraska Gatorade Player of The Year Titles

The Nebraska signee adds another award to the already impressive resume.

Senior point guard Britt Prince gets added to the Nebraska Gatorade Player of The Year list again this year with a 4-peat and an even stronger stat-line to her name. Prince averaged 27 points a game with 10.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists. She first joined the GP alumni her junior year after the Wolves won their third state title in a row. 

Over her career Prince totaled 2,491 points (Class B Scoring Record, 2nd All-time) and 271 tournament points, tying second with former Nebraska Women’s Basketball Player Jordan Hooper.

Other accomplishments include: The Nebraska Class B Scoring Record, Multiple All State, Super State, and other publication’s First Team’s, 2024 Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, 2024 Naismith All-American Honorable Mention, and many more.

The Gatorade Player of the year award was started in 1986. Every year Gatorade honors 608 athletes from 50 states (including Washington D.C.) and 12 different sports. Each GPOY is granted $1000 to support one of Gatorade’s social impact partners to continue to grow youth sports. 

The three main areas of evaluation for the award are: Athletic Excellence, Academic Achievement, and Exemplary Character. The athletic excellence category is evaluated based on standout performances at all levels of competition. Academic achievement looks at GPA, class rank, as well as standardized testing scores. The influence an athlete has on the community as well as the player’s sportsmanship and participation are included in the exemplary character category.

Recent Nebraska winner include: Taylor McCabe (2021-22, Fremont High School), Alexis Markowski (2020-21, Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School), and Morgan Maly (2019-20, Crete High School,
