Only written and recorded in just five days, Maggie Rogers newest album Don’t Forget About Me has left its mark as her best album since the release of The Echo in 2019.
With its ten featured songs, Don’t Forget About Me shows a variety of Rogers’ strengths as both a singer and songwriter. Throughout the album Rogers includes songs such as “On & On & On” which has already earned her newest songs spots on playlists curated by Apple Music. This new style of music has left Rogers’ songs to take place on popular playlists curated by Apple Music, such as Family Road Trip and Relax, that include other popular names like Teddy Swims, Lauv, Dean Lewis, and Benson Boone.
The album travels through the feelings experienced in a road trip, with the final song, “Don’t Forget About Me”, signifying the bittersweet end.
The first few songs on the track, “It Was Coming All Along”, “Drunk” and “So Sick Of Dreaming”, start the flowy and laid-back feel of the album from the get go, and the fourth song, “The Kill”, is by far the most intricate storyline to follow.
“On & On & On” and “Never Going Home” are the perfect songs for a drive, especially one with the windows down and music up; the upbeat pace and catchy lyrics quickly get the song stuck in someone’s head.
In her description of her album to Apple Music, Rogers claims “There’s something about this record that feels like I’m coming home,” which is exactly what Rogers did following her break from the music industry while earning her master’s degree.
Discovered over eight years ago, Rogers’ is still shaping into the artist she wants to become, and this album is truly a step in the right direction. The perfect blend of folk and pop in one album truly will never be forgotten.
