Stodden was top ranked in the state in five events throughout the season: 4×400, 4×800, 400m, 200m, and the 800m; but, at districts athletes are only allowed to compete and qualify for state in four events.
Stodden is competing in the 4x800m, 200m, 400m and 4x400m at the state championships on May 15th and 16th at Burke High School.
In the 2024 season Stodden has broken numerous Class B, Eastern Midlands Conference, Elkhorn North, and meet records. Not only is Stodden breaking records, but with her drive to set new personal bests, her biggest competitor is herself.
“She has an incredible work ethic and is always pushing those around her to be better,” senior Allyson Dutoit said.
To contribute to her success Stodden spends extra time lifting in the off season. This helps improve her strength and cuts down time in her races. In the summer Stodden competes in meets through the United States of America Track & Field, or USATF.
Stodden have a key role on the track, and she is constantly encouraging her own team.
“Sydney brings so much energy to the team,” senior Maddi Harrison said. “She is a great leader and perfect role model.”
Whether in the classroom, on the track, or on the court, Stodden is a competitor and a force to be reckoned with.
Stodden will be continuing her track career at the University of South Dakota in the fall.
“Sydney is very passionate about track and loves to compete alongside her teammates,” senior Britt Prince said.
Congratulations Sydney on your success this year and we are wishing you and the track team the best of luck at state!
