New History teacher Jake Aitken is officially a part of the Wolfpack and the newest addition to the History wing. Aitken is a 22 year-old teacher who loves making people’s day.
“Elkhorn North’s the best of the best,” Aitken said. “I’ve been told by everyone that you can’t go to a better school.”
Originally Aitken planned on going into the chiropractic or dental field but his own football coach encouraged him to pursue teaching. He trusted him because he’s been a huge mentor in his life. Aitken now strives to be a role model like this for his students.
Aitken said, ”I want to make everyone’s high school experience as fun as possible.”
He is the one teaching the students about World History, but they are the ones teaching him about Elkhorn North and the way of the pack.
“The students have tought me a lot about the environment here,” Aitken said. “It’s amazing to be involved with such a strong community”
Aitken’s teaching style reflects his personality; he incorporates humor and interactive elements into his class to keep his students engaged. He also cracks jokes throughout every class because he wants the students to enjoy coming to his classroom everyday, and to not have a negative attitude. Aitken wants to prove that teachers and students can have a strong relationship inside and outside of the classroom.
“I like to have a fun environment without getting too off task,” Aitken said. “I’m a fun, energetic guy, and ready to get after it.”
As a high school student himself, Aitken was involved in football, baseball, and basketball. His belief is that everyone should aim to be a part of a team because extracurricular activities are super important for the development of students, the building of relationships, and the high school experience.
Aitken travels all around during the school day so stop at rooms H010, H017, and H018 to welcome Aitken to the wolf pack!
