Dear Costco: Murder has consequences

Getting rid of the Costco Churro has caused outrage- as it should.

The Costco Churro™, 1984-2024, passed away suddenly due to unknown causes.

Born in Kirkland, Wash., the Costco Churro was always an exceptional item. Earning the title of “Fan Favorite” early in its career, the Costco Churro brought joy to Costco customers all over the US.

Preceding Costco Churro in death are: Combo Pizza, Acai Bowl, and Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel.

Surviving relatives of Costco Churro include: Kirkland Cheese Pizza, Vanilla Ice Cream and Chicken Bake.

The Costco Churro will be greatly mourned by everyone with a Costco membership.

But….

We don’t have to mourn.

Because WE have the power to revive The Costco Churro™.

Why should we ally together on this matter? I mean, it’s just a churro, right?

Wrong. It isn’t just a churro. It’s nostalgic. It’s magic. It’s iconic. It’s THE Costco Churro™.

“One day I went to Costco, and I saw that the churro was available, and my mom let me buy it and I tried it and I was like ‘oh this is really good,’” freshman Sofia Sherman said. “And it was only like a dollar, a dollar fifty…it was so great.”

It really was so great. The Costco churro was cheap. Maybe that’s why so many parents, like freshman Doug Towey’s, chose the churro to feed their children, rather than the more expensive chicken bake or pizza slice.

“I first got it [the churro] when I was five. My mom just got a membership, so it was my first Costco experience,” Towey said. “It’s a core memory.”

The Costco Churro has been creating core memories since 1984. Then, for no apparent reason, Costco officials decided to chop the churro from the menu.

“I was very infuriated, because I go to Costco all the time,” Towey said. “I was like ‘why would they take my favorite food away?’”

“The churro has very much impacted my life. It impacts where I go grocery shopping, the decisions I make, and what I decide to do with my life,” Sherman said.
