Lips locked and fingers intertwined- did just reading that gross you out? PDA or public displays of affection are unfortunately common at Elkhorn North. Whether it’s in or between classes, students are holding hands, cuddling, and kissing.
“[I see] this couple that is cheek to cheek and they’re just rubbing each other for a good solid 20 minutes,” junior Harrison Allen said.
This makes students uncomfortable and disrupts the learning environment. PDA is a distraction for students who engage in it and students who have to witness an unsolicited rom-com. The focus should be on education and not on you and your pookie wookie bear.
“It’s very distracting to see a couple randomly all over each other. It’s just really weird and out of the ordinary,” junior Christian Schlott said. “Even if I’m not looking at them, it’s distracting because they make noises.”
Physical touch is perfectly fine outside of school, but inside school settings it is completely inappropriate. No one should be comfortable making out in front of your peers. You wouldn’t be doing that in front of your parents, so don’t do it at school. If you can’t go 8 hours without touching your girlfriend or boyfriend, that’s honestly concerning.
“It’s just awkward,” science teacher Dan Dischler said. “I know you two have feelings for each other, but this isn’t the place to demonstrate those.”
People do not want to see the disgusting things you do at school.
No one wants to witness intimate moments with your boyfriend or girlfriend, especially in school. It’s just gross and unnecessary. No one signed up for a front row seat to your love fest. Seriously, there’s a time and a place for everything and at school is not it.
