The Elkhorn North volleyball team is talented. There’s no doubt about that. Currently ranked No. 3 in Class B and No. 5 in Nebraska with a record of 14-3, the volleyball team is full of hard working athletes. One of those athletes is junior Hayden Booth, co-captain of the varsity team.

Booth is a setter and has been on varsity since her freshman year. According to MaxPreps, Booth is the team leader in serving aces and aces per set [20 and 0.4]. She’s also ranked No. 1 for assists in Nebraska and No. 242 in the nation.

“She is really good at communicating where she’s going to set with her hitters,” junior Ava Thompson said. “She also lifts people’s spirits. I know I can look to her if things are going wrong.”

In the 3-0 sweep against Millard South, Booth had four kills and 40 assists. She averaged 13.3 assists per set, which is very impressive compared to the national average of 0.8 assists per set.

Booth is able to rack up these impressive stats due to her ability to control the game under pressure.

“She’s very calm, cool and collected,” math teacher and volleyball coach Kaylee Prenosil said. “She doesn’t really let things faze her, but she can get aggressive if she needs to.”

Currently at 507 assists for the fall 2024-2025 season, Booth is averaging 11.0 assists per set.

“She is a quiet but motivating part of the team. She’s behind the scenes so you might not notice it, but she’s always doing the little things like giving high fives,” Prenosil said. “She’s the underlying connection who brings everyone together.”

Congratulations to our wolf of the week, Hayden Booth!!
