Elkhorn North has many clubs that students can join. One problem is that many students lack the knowledge of what the clubs are. Clubs With Christo is the solution to this problem. I spend a meeting with one of the clubs around the school so that I can educate the student body on what they are all about. For this first installment I met with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or the FCA.
The FCA meets every Wednesday at 7:20 in the H115 room. Math teacher Spencer.Peterson is the teacher sponsor and the four student leaders are Jenna Polking, Jacob Petrick, Keary Friedrichsen, and Brooke Franzen.
“Bring kids with their faith together in order to talk and discuss and grow in their faith and display it through their sport.” Mr. Peterson said about the overall goal of FCA
I got to see what a typical meeting went like which began with Mr. Peterson leading the group in prayer and then asking everyone how they were doing. Shortly after, junior Brooke Franzen addressed the whole group with a verse from the Bible and explained what the lesson of the meeting was. Next, everyone broke up into small groups and began reading a book called “Doing Sports God’s Way,” and discussed ideas presented from it amongst themselves. After the groups had finished reading the passages, they closed the meeting in prayer.
The FCA is a great way for students to find others with shared interests and practice them together and I strongly recommend for students to head to the H115 room next Wednesday and see for themselves.
