Wolf of the Week: Myles Trausch

Senior leads the student section at sports events.
Wolf of the Week: Myles Trausch

Every school has a student section, but not all of them come to a multitude of sports, or attend many different games in a week. The Elkhorn North student section is different.

Although there may not be that many people at these games, there are a select few students who are a staple in the pack, leading the chants and cheers.

One of these students is senior Myles Trausch. Trausch is one of the leaders of the student section, as well as a Pack member, and one of the most vocal seniors in the school.

Throughout the fall, Trausch has attended ten of eleven football games, the lone miss being the Scottsbluff matchup, which was played seven+ hours away. He also attended more than 20 volleyball matches, including all of the state tournament matchups for the wolves.

Along with Trausch, there are many other seniors at the front and center of the student section, such as Kyle Ferry.

When asked about Trausch contribution to the student section, Ferry praised what Trausch has done for the school and its athletics.

“He is the one that leads us all up, brings a bunch of energy, and is always having a great time. He always seems to have the biggest smile on his face, and his attitude and energy is infectious.” Ferry said.

The student section has many chants that they perform throughout the game, such as “Go Big Blue”, “We Can’t Hear You”, and “We Got Spirit”. Trausch leads them in these chants, telling them what to say, when to say it, and how many times.

Not only does the student section hype each other up and cheer loudly, but they also play a role in the outcome of the game. With a loud student section, the atmosphere on the sideline becomes more energetic, leading to the players on the field having more intensity and drive.

The football game against Skutt Catholic is known amongst the team as the best student section of the season, with over 200 students there, cheering loudly every play. The Wolves would take the win, in what was most likely the biggest win in school history.

Junior quarterback Ethan Beachy is one of the leaders on the football team. When asked about the student section, he was very adamant about their role in the outcome of every game.

“Although we can’t hear them on the field, we can for sure feel the energy on the sideline,” Beachy said. “When they are hyped up and have lots of energy, it feels the same down on the field.”

With the fall sports season winding down, there is little opportunity for students to go and support their schools athletics. But once winter sports such as girls and boys basketball start up, Trausch will surely be back at it, leading the wolfpack student section.
