After roughly one month of Elkhorn North volleyball, the Wolves are 11-2. Throughout these 13 matchups, a lot has been learned about the team.
Their season started on Aug. 28, when the Wolves went up against the Elkhorn High Antlers. The Wolves won three sets to none in dominant fashion, holding the Antlers to less than 20 points in each set.
Senior Julia Perrotto is a vocal leader on the team, and is a defensive specialist.
“It was really exciting to beat Elkhorn,” Perrotto said. “It gave us a lot of hope for the season and what this year could become for us.”
The Wolves would play three games the day after, winning two, but losing their first match of the season in a two set sweep to the Gretna Dragons.
“Nobody ever wants to lose,” Perrotto said. “ But I do think it was good for us to help keep humble and stay dedicated and focused on the task at hand.”
The Wolves would then rattle off eight straight wins, some against top class A schools like Omaha Westside and Papillion Lavista-South (twice).
The Wolves have returned a lot of production from the year prior, including three seniors and five juniors.
Junior Reagan Wallraff leads the team in kills with 233 on the year, followed by Junior Kaitlyn Huff, and sophomore Payton Palmer who also leads the team in serving aces.
Senior Hayden Booth is the starting setter and has over 350 assists on the year. Booth also has the third most digs on the team, trailing Reagan and Reese Wallraff.
Just over halfway through their schedule, the Wolves have seen great success. The team is currently ranked 4th in class B, and has wins over 3 of the top 5 class A schools.
The team has bigger aspirations than fourth place, as the ultimate goal is a 2025 state championship.
“Everybody thinks a championship is possible,” Perrotto said. “I think if we keep our momentum and team chemistry up we will definitely get there.”
