Elkhorn North has a new club that offers creativity, teamwork, roleplaying, and problem solving. Tabletop Games is currently playing through a campaign of Dungeons and Dragons. This roleplaying game allows players to embark on quests together in a world of their own imagination.
“I really like the creative freedom, the story is put into place by the DM (Dungeon Master), but all the players get to decide what to do,” junior Morgan Lavin said.
Playing tabletop games is a great way for students to step outside of their comfort zone and flex creative muscles they often aren’t able to use during the school day. Being able to build the story together helps the group get to know one another on a deeper level.
“I’ve made friends through it,” Lavin said. “It’s a great way to get to know people you wouldn’t otherwise.”
Tabletop Games club was founded because it can be hard for TTRPG (tabletop roleplaying game) fans to find others with the same interest and form a party.
“Tabletop games really help bring people together through their passion for RPGs (Roleplaying Games),” junior Conner Fiala said.
The club is more than happy to help first time Dungeons and Dragons players who may be intimidated by all of the rules and unique way of play.
‘If you don’t know how to play or are nervous to join, we are more than happy to let people sit in on sessions and learn what it is all about,” Lavin said. “People are also more than welcome to email me if they have any questions.”
For any students that are on the fence about joining, Lavin and the other members are willing to get new players into the game easily.
“Whenever someone wants to join we are able to get their character in and get them up to speed on the story,” Lavin said.
Tabletop Games meets in Mrs. Honz room after school on Wednesdays and usually play until 4:30. Club leaders Morgan Lavin ([email protected]) and Brady Johnson ([email protected]) welcome any emails from curious students. Tabletop Games Club is for those who are interested in using their creativity to invent and experience a brand new world.
