Alanis, Celsius, Redbulls, and many other energy drinks have overtaken schools. Students and teachers often consume caffeine daily whether it is soda, energy drinks, or coffee. Besides the taste being a reason to drink energy drinks, the caffeine is something that keeps students awake and ready to accomplish their long day.
The reliance on caffeine has increased as students advance grade levels. Energy drinks have begun to gain more popularity, and most students start their morning with one. It provides students with a quick source of energy, and fuels the ability to complete a practice, schoolwork, or even a sports game.
¨I have my black coffee, and then I run out of coffee, and I need something else,¨ history teacher Bobby Simpson said. “I always drink an Alani.¨
The wide variety of flavors introduce a sense of excitement to someone’s day. It can motivate students to wake up everyday and conquer their busy day, along with adding more joy into their life.
“I can go through my day of school, work, or whatever I have planned that day, and feel refreshed,“ junior Sabrina Scherzberg said.
The colorful cans or delicious flavors draw the eyes of adolescents. It hooks them to try new drinks. This leaves students and teachers coming back for more of these drinks to fuel their day.
While energy drinks can give students motivation, they can also have negative effects on the body. It can cause students to feel jittery, and not focused. Specifically, athletes find that these drinks do not always drive their performance in a successful way.
¨I always get shaky so I am not able to compete as well,¨ junior Leah Robinson said.
Energy drinks have both pros and cons for students. I believe that energy drinks leave students with the ability to execute their day, along with feeling motivated to do it.
