Ella Ford is a Freshman who runs on the cross country team for Elkhorn North. She has created a massive impact and a positive environment for her coaches and her teammates.

For these reasons, this week’s athlete of the week is Ella Ford.

Ford has been running and practicing with the cross country team every summer since her 7th grade year. This allowed her to meet some of her future teammates and learn how to run with the upperclassmen.

“I would say her bond with the girls on varsity is really really cool and if you were to watch her now you would think she’d been with them all four years,” cross country coach Bob Wolf said.

Her coach and teammates all agree that Ford deserves to be athlete of the week because of her astounding top 15 finish at the State Cross Country Meet this year. She is described as having a great personality on and off the course. Ford’s positive impact makes her teammates want to do better.

“I mean, she’s a great person and a great teammate, and she gets along well with others,” teammate Britt Prince said.

Ford has shown what she is capable of in terms of running. She has grown into herself and has made a huge jump in athleticism from 7th grade up until now.

“She’s definitely become more mature and after state I can see she’s more confident in who she is and also in her running abilities,” junior Bridget Swan said.

Ford had a very successful cross country season finishing in the top 15 at state cross country in Kearney. She shocked everyone with her ability to run and maintain pace. Her contribution to the team is appreciated by all of her teammates and especially the coaches.

“She showed the culmination of the season of hard work and support, and that makes her absolutely worthy,” Wolf said.
