A lot can happen in 45 seconds. On September 11, during the first Monday Night football game, newly traded quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his achilles tendon in his first four plays as a New York Jet.
A years worth of hype immediately came to an end. They no longer have their future Hall of Fame quarterback for the 2023-2024 NFL season. Predictions by some sports analysts said that, after a 12-year playoff season drought, the Jets had playoff potential and could have won the Super Bowl. That was Aaron Rodgers’s goal, he wanted to win a Super Bowl with the New York Jets in his first year.
Now, the Jets have to rely on backup quarterback, 2021 third round pick, Zach Wilson, to carry the team to a winning season. Head coach Robert Salah told reporters that Rodgers would change roles and serve as one of Wilson’s quarterback coaches. Although Wilson has had Rodgers to help him learn and grow throughout the offseason, the team is struggling without a veteran player.
Since the season ending injury in week one, the Jets have not won a game, with their record sitting at 1-3. Aaron Rodgers specifically had a good relationship with wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Rodgers said in an interview, “sorry kid,” to Garrett Wilson. He was going to be special this year with a quarterback like Aaron Rogers. Now tensions are high, can Garrett Wilson live up to what he was praised this offseason?
45 seconds changed Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets outcome for the 2023-2024 NFL season. Even though Rodgers is out for the season, he signed a two year deal worth up to $75 million guaranteed.Ultimately he is done for the year, but is still getting paid around $35 million for this NFL season. Not bad for 45 seconds of play.
Aaron Rodgers goal is to come back midseason after his season ending injury. He has been going to rehab five hours every single day. He plans to play in week 8 of the NFL season, and maybe revive the hopes of the New York Jets.
