The harmony of voices and instruments was heard on Oct. 12 as the freshmen choir shared new material with the audience.
Throughout the concert, the freshmen played one song titled ‘Cantar’ during which there were special guests, including senior Colin McMahon on the hand drums.
Although a choir concert does not include points to be scored or footballs to be caught, the students still showed the importance of a positive outlook and gave all their energy.
“I think we did pretty good,” freshman Diana Sealock said. “We had full voices.”
Casey Allen, the choir teacher and director, kept all the students in line whilst directing them. Allen does so with an upbeat attitude while giving instructions.
Being a freshman in any sport or club can be nerve-wracking, and nerves can come when standing on the stage in front of 200 people including the higher level choirs. Freshmen and the other choirs are a class during the school day during which they accumulate all the notes and work on their technique. Although people may underestimate choir, there is a lot of work that goes into getting the notes perfect and the clapping in choruses correct. The fall choir concert was a performance to prove just that.
“We’ve all been practicing for a while so I think it paid off,” freshman Camry Coler said. “I think it was a good performance overall.”
