Elkhorn North has many clubs that students can join. The problem is that many students lack the knowledge of what the clubs are. Clubs With Christo is the solution to this problem. I attend a meeting with one of the clubs around the school, so that I can educate the student body on what they are all about. This week I visited Health Occupation Students of America or HOSA.
HOSA meets on Fridays at 7:30 A.M. in room H109 and science teacher Daryle LaFleur is the sponsor.
HOSA is a club for students that wish to have a career in the healthcare field. At each HOSA meeting a different healthcare professional will present what their job is like and go in depth into what kind of journey they had to take in order to get their position, including the education requirements.
Rhonda LaFleur was the presenter at the most recent meeting. R. LaFleur described what drove her to pursue her profession, including her education journey. She gave a basic overview of what her job is like in order to attract students into the field. R. LaFleur ended the presentation by opening it up to questions for students in which they inquired about her job and experience.
For all students who are interested in entering healthcare but aren’t exactly sure what they want to do, HOSA is an amazing way to learn about different jobs and discover if a career in healthcare is right for you.
