After only the second game of the season for the Wolves, junior Andersen Taylor made a name for himself. The team starts off with a 2-0 record, while Taylor is responsible for 107 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. He averaged 8.9 yards a carry, thanks to his offensive line and his ability to break through tackles. Taylor leads the Wolves in rushing yards with a total of 118, even after starting on the bench in both games.
Until this season, Taylor had little experience playing at the varsity level, but his dominating performance against York shows his potential to lead the team’s run game.
“Andy is a completely different player from a year ago and has made a jump from last season,” head football coach Sam Stanley said. “He worked his tail off the past nine months and is one of the hardest workers on the team, on the field, and in the weight room.”
As a running back, Taylor is a leading threat in the backfield with his exceptional power and ability. He showcases his power and dominance every time he takes a hand off in the backfield.
Towards the start of the game, Taylor knocked over multiple defenders as he trucked and stiff armed his way through the York defense and made his way towards the end zone, ultimately leading to a touchdown . This big time run gave the Wolves a quick lead and a start to their momentum.
“His big run was super hype,” senior offensive and defensive lineman Parker Christoffels said. “It got the sideline going and encouraged others to plow right through York’s defense.”
Playing a position on the team with a lot of depth can be challenging to stand out in the fight for playing time with the other running backs, but Taylor has earned his spot as RB1.
