Volleyball finished their regular season with a program sweep against Lincoln Northwest. While the varsity team has dominated their opponents throughout the season, they now move onto more challenging matches during districts and state.
“Post-season games are a lot more intense,” varsity player junior Kaitlyn Huff said. “During these games, people are playing to keep their season alive, so it means more.”
For the Wolves, this whole season has been focused on paving the way to the state tournament.
“Our goal since we walked into the gym in August was a state championship,” head coach Jenny Gragert said. “Heading into districts it remains the same.”
With this mindset, the team is entering districts focused on refining the skills they have been working on all season.
“It is always important to spend a lot of time on serve and pass so we will continue to focus on that,” Gragert said. “One of our biggest strengths is our block game so we will place importance on that as well.”
While the team had a few tough matches throughout the season, one game that left a lasting impact was their three set sweep against the Norris Titans.
“It was a great match,” Gragert said. “We pushed our mindset from thinking that winning state is attainable to truly believing it is.”
With the confidence and skills they have gained this season, the Wolves are ready to give everything they have for a championship trophy. Whether this season ends with a state title or not, their success within the regular season is an achievement in itself.
