The transition from middle school to high school is already a challenging time but when you are switching school districts, that’s a totally different experience. Reagan Gurzick transferred from Kiewit Middle School and is now a student at Elkhorn North.
When transferring school districts, it can be difficult to get to know new people especially when a lot of the students have previously gone to school together.
“I like it but it’s a lot different from middle school,” freshman Reagan Gurzick said. “I didn’t know a lot of people coming into high school so the most difficult thing was probably talking to new people.”
Gurzick also tried out for the volleyball team this year and made Junior Varsity as a freshman. She is a defensive specialist and libero for the JV team.
“I made it a goal to make JV and was happy when I accomplished that goal,” Gurzick said. “At Kiewit, volleyball was a lot different and not as competitive. High school volleyball is more commitment and more intense.”
This is also Gurzick’s first year playing on a high level volleyball team. The switch to a more competitive team is important to improve in her volleyball career.
While it was difficult to transition school districts, Gurzick has still been able to show her personality on and off the volleyball court.
“Reagan is a super outgoing teammate, ” junior volleyball teammate Alayna Vaughn said. “She is always communicating on the court and is a super fun person to be around”
