No Time Left to Spare- Bowling Season Recap

On Dec. 7, 2023, the Wolves competed in the Lincoln Invitational. Individually, junior Alayna Vaughn placed second, senior Ellie Lary placed fifth, and senior Mallory Ringenberg placed seventh for the girls. For the boys, sophomore Zander Limbek placed 12th overall.

As a team, the girls finished as tournament champions, the program’s first tournament win. The boys team fell in the semi-finals to the eventual tournament victor Papio-South High School.

“The day was filled with energy and just love for eachother,” Lary said. “Eventually, that transferred to our comeback.”

At the Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) Tournament on Jan. 25, 2024, the boys finished second. Senior Ben Sullivan finished first as the all-conference captain, senior Colin Nowaczyk in second and senior Jayse Munter in fifth.

In a fight for the EMC title against Elkhorn High School, the Lady Wolves came out on top earning their first conference title.

During the 2022-23 season, both teams failed to win their district, though the boys did make an appearance at state thanks to a wildcard bid.

This season, the tables turned and both teams swept through districts and came out on top punching their tickets to state. Limbek, Nowaczyk, and Munter each placed in the top five individually, earning individuals spots at the state championships.

“The satisfaction of earning a spot at districts was a lot better than getting in on a wildcard last year,” senior Addison Curry said. “We deserved to be there.”

On Feb. 5, 2024, Limbek, Nowaczyk, and Munter put on a show at individual state as they represented the Wolves. Limbek and Nowaczyk finished fourth and fifth respectively, earning medals and a place in school history.

At team state in the double elimination bracket, the boys took a 3-0 win from Humphery-Lindsey Holy Family then put up a fight but ultimately lost to York, and Seward, in the second round in the consolation bracket.

The girls beat Duchesne in the first round then lost to Humphrey-Lindsey Holy Family, which put the girls at risk of elimination. They bounced back and beat York and Humphrey-Lindsey Holy Family to secure their spot in the championship match.

Placing second and earning the 2024 Class B Girls Bowling Runner-up title, the Elkhorn North Girls made district history. The 2024 team consisted of seniors Mallory Ringenberg, Ellie Lary, Grace Jesske, and Julia Karmazin and sophomores Lily Doscher, Kyla Henthorn, and Ava Thompson.
