The North Howler has announced that May 4th will be the release date for their sixth volume of The North Howler print issue. Completing this is a massive undertaking for the Howler staff and a stand out during the whole process is sophomore Channing Sidders.

“Making the print issue takes many months and it’s a labor of love,” North Howler advisor Chloe Healy said. “We basically start with nothing and have to create something interesting and cohesive and engaging. A big part of what made the print issue like that, is what Channing brought to it.”

Sidders was involved in the making of the post grad plan page as well as designing the page for her own article.

“Channing had a full length article that she wrote and it was so good I decided it had to be in the print issue,” Healy said. “It has also won several awards at various journalism competitions.”

One of the most important parts of the print issue is implementing the theme that the design theme has chosen.

“She has this really clever idea of using a blue ray disc loading screen background for the post grad plans page,” Editor in Chief Tyler Cooney said. “It was a great way of incorporating the movie theme into the print issue.”

Sidders had already been an amazing addition to the Howler staff and her design skills have done even more to prove this.

“She’s always been a strong writer and communicator, but now to see that she can add that to design and visual communications has been really awesome,” Healy said.

Being only a sophomore, Sidders still has a lot of time to improve on her skills and possibly even step into a leadership role.

“I think she has done a really good job this year and I think she has a bright future in the newspaper,” Cooney said. “She still has a lot more time to grow in confidence but she’s already thriving in every position that she’s thrown into.”
