Perfect vocals, perfect movements, and perfect facial expressions, are all vital aspects of a show choir’s performance. However, perfect plans are not always in that mix.
On Jan. 17th, 2026, Elkhorn North’s JV show choir “ENcore” performed at Gretna Primetime, a local competition that hosted many schools throughout the area. Their theme, “Italian Nights,” takes viewers on a journey through a night in Italy and explores themes around the magic surrounding the iconic city.
Sophomore Andy Nengsu is a member of ENcore and additionally has a duet with freshman Sydney Sweeney.
Taking on a singing role takes preparation and hard work, something that Nengsu is no stranger to. ENcore director, Alyssa Schade, has witnessed her development and leadership firsthand whilst being a part of the group.
“Andy has prepared by being attentive, focused, and committed in rehearsals,” Schade said. “She gives 110 percent every single time.”
At the competition, Nengsu’s duet turned into a solo with the absence of Sweeney. Nengsu sang both parts of their song.
“I was stressed, but Andy was calm and collected and handled it like a pro, while also exuding so much confidence,” Schade said.
Nengsu’s leadership doesn’t go unnoticed around her peers either. Her ability to work with anyone and adapt depending on the group makes Nengsu stand out from the rest.
“She is the kind of person that is a friend to everyone,” AdrENaline member Melia Horner said. “She cares so much and is talented in everything she does.”
