The girls volleyball team wrapped up an exciting season with a 30-7 record. This year their season was roughly three months, beginning in August and ending in November.
The team motto being “Finish the Mission” fueled the team to take them through the regular season, throughout state at Pinnacle Bank Arena, and ultimately to the championship game at Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The first round of state for the wolves was Nov. 5 against Bennington. They swept the Badgers, and junior Reagan Wallraff set a new Class B record for most kills in a state tournament. With 42 kills.
The Badgers win advanced the Wolves into the Semifinals against Omaha Skutt Catholic.
“We were very excited and I feel like there were very few nerves because we were very confident”, junior Alexis Hewitt said.
Both teams continued to fight throughout the five-set match, but the wolves pulled through and won. This was the first time wolves volleyball had ever beaten their long time rival Skutt.
The 2025 championship game was on Nov. 8 against the Norris Titans. Norris had won the last state championship in 2024.
“The atmosphere of Devaney is unlike any other, especially because you know that everyone’s eyes are all on you,” junior captain Kaitlyn Huff said. “The game feels way more intimidating because of the size of the building and because it’s an absolute dream to play there.”
The first two sets went to Norris 25-22 and 25-23. The third set went to Elkhorn North with a score of 27-25. Norris finished off the game winning the fourth set 25-12.
“I truly couldn’t be more proud of this team, even though it didn;t work out how we hoped it would, we worked hard for each other and gave it out all at every single practice and game”, Huff said.
