On December 12, 2025, Hyper Energy Bar held its grand opening celebration from 12-7pm. Hyper is a drive-thru beverage chain from Des Moines, Iowa that was recently added to Elkhorn, Nebraska. Hyper is located southwest of 180th and West Maple Road, near Costco and 7 Brew.
Although their company is known for their sweet energy drinks, Hyper also sells other coffee drinks like lattes and americanos. Additionally, Hyper sells quick grab-and-go snacks like cake pops.
Hyper’s main menu of energy drinks include the following:
- Coolada (coconut, pineapple, and white chocolate)
- Cosmic Lightning (peach, mango, and pineapple)
- Triple Threat (green apple, blue raspberry, and white chocolate)
- Adrenaline Junkie (blue raspberry)
- Aftershock (blue raspberry and pomegranate)
- Berry Bolt (blueberry, raspberry, and pomegranate)
- Orange Burst (orange, guava, and lemon)
- Sour Wave (passion fruit, sour candy, and raspberry)
The doors have not been opened for long, but lengthy lines of cars wait to order their drink at the store daily. Hyper is a small building with limited space, so the car line can get excessive.
“Because of the way the line is established, only one person can order at a time,” sophomore Kylie Myers said. “So, the line can get very long, especially because it is such a small area.”
Many students are unsure if the line is worth it. However, reviews of Hyper have been predominantly positive, mentioning that their drinks are unique and flavorful. With these satisfactory reviews, many still choose to go despite having to face the protracted waiting time.
“I would suggest going through the walk-up line, not the drive-through,” sophomore Aliyah Krause said. “Every other time I’ve been there, it was early in the morning, so there was not that long of a line.”
Hyper plans to build more locations in Omaha, Nebraska at 180th & Burke Street and 204th and Harrison Street. For now, Hyper remains a popular hit to the beverage chain industry and continues to rack more customers daily.
“Hyper is different from what we’ve had in the past,” Krause said. “For example, at Starbucks, people usually get one trending item, but at Hyper, there’s a lot more diverse flavors.”
