The Wolves are off to an impressive start as they kick off their 2022 competitive cross country season. Both boys and girls JV teams have had incredible success in just the first two meets of the season, but specifically the DC West Invitational on Thursday, September 1st. Conditions were not in the best favor for runners in the heat of the day on Thursday (low 90’s, sunny, and humid), but that didn’t stop them from putting up some impressive times and bringing several medals home.

On the JV Boys side, a strategically-run race paid off for Senior Caleb Polking and Junior Ben Sullivan, who earned an 11th and 13th place medal respectively. Trailing close behind were Carson Reinhardt, Dylan Palmer, and Carter Thies, who all made the top-25 list in a race with almost 60 competitors total.

JV Girls also brought home an impressive amount of hardware at the conclusion of the DC West meet, with 11 of the top 20 places being Elkhorn North runners. Sophomore Anna Ripley and Senior Bridget Swan competed stride-by-stride for the duration of the 5 kilometer race to secure champion and runner-up medals, with 3rd (Melendrez), 4th (Brummels), 6th (Carney), 8th (Mead), 13th (Marshall), and 15th (Hernandez) place all also belonging to the Wolves.

Both JV and Varsity teams have a packed season of races upon them, but times and medals from the opening races have proven promising to the Wolves of a great upcoming season.
